Airfryer Tuna Melt bagels

This spicy tuna melt bagel is a quick, high-protein lunch or easy midweek meal made with simple supermarket ingredients. A spicy twist on a popular sandwich filling, this bagel can be made in under 15 minutes and is perfect for busy days.

1 Bagel
100 g Springwater tinned tuna drained
1 Red onion small
4 tbsp Sweetcorn
1 tbsp Buffalo hot sauce
2 tbsp Reduced fat mayo
To taste Ground pepper
25 g Light mozzarella grated cheese

Step 1

Preheat your grill or airfryer to 180°C.

Step 2

n a bowl, flake the drained tuna and mix with the jalapeños, diced red onion, sweetcorn, buffalo hot sauce, reduced-fat mayonnaise and ground black pepper until well combined.

Step 3

Slice the bagel in half and spoon the tuna mixture evenly over both bagel halves.

Step 4

Sprinkle the grated light mozzarella evenly over the tuna.

Step 5

Place under the grill or into the airfryer and cook for 5–8 minutes until the cheese has melted and the topping is hot through and lightly golden.

Step 6

Remove and serve immediately while warm.

Recipe Notes
  • Light mozzarella adds a gentle creaminess without overpowering the tuna. You can swap for reduced-fat cheddar if preferred, but mozzarella melts particularly well here.

Cooking Tips
  • Toast the bagel lightly before topping to keep it crisp underneath. Spread the cheese evenly so it melts without clumping.

Storage Instructions
  • Best enjoyed immediately. The tuna mixture can be prepared up to 24 hours ahead and stored in the fridge, but assemble and cook the bagel fresh for the best texture.
